Felix the Pomeranian’s Road to Recovery - Understanding Patella Problems in Small Dogs

Felix, an adorable Pomeranian, came to Shango Veterinario Clinic when his owner noticed he seemed to be in pain, especially around his back legs. His discomfort was affecting his usual bouncy personality. After a thorough examination, our veterinarians diagnosed Felix with a common issue for Pomeranians: luxating patella, where the kneecap slips out of place.

This condition often develops in small breeds due to their unique leg structure and the way they sit with their legs splayed. Over time, repeated stress on the joint can cause pain and instability, and surgery is frequently needed to realign the patella.

Felix underwent corrective surgery and is now recovering comfortably at home, with far less pain and a brighter outlook. His journey highlights the importance of early veterinary assessment when a pet shows signs of pain or limping. Ignoring these signs can lead to worsening damage and more complicated treatments later on.

🏥 Our advice: If you notice your small dog limping, skipping steps, or appearing uncomfortable, don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment. Early diagnosis can greatly improve your pet’s quality of life.
